Alas, house projects are a little like makeovers. You gussy up one thing (new glasses, lipstick, tummy tuck) and suddenly you start seeing flaws in all the other parts. That was the trap we fell into. The laundry room looked so good that we decided to paint the upstairs toilet and the shower as well. Once those were done we noticed that the kitchen looked pretty bad so it was off to the hardware store for more paint and so on and so forth. At some point we will need to remember that "le mieux est l'ennemi du bien" (better is the enemy of good) but not just yet.....

ReplyDeleteI thought I would share this after reading about your bathroom project, and worrying about the unintended effects of using chlorine bleach to fight molds.
We had an almost insurmountable problem with a wet basement and mold. The air quality/mold expert we used advised us to clean and then spray clean surfaces (walls, etc.) with Benefect http://www.benefect.com/ - a commercial product made from essence of thyme oil - as safer than just using chlorine bleach (OSHA no longer recommends bleach) . It did work, and I use Benefect now - in a bathroom that has very little ventilation.
