Cancer Journey

The Franco-American Flophouse has moved to a new site.  You can find all these posts and new ones under the Category "Cancer" at:

A few years ago I added a new chapter to my immigrant experience.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer here in my host country, France.  I decided to write about it from time to time and here are the posts I  published over the course of my treatment.  Here's hoping that if you or someone you know is having a similar experience, there is something here you might find helpful.

And if you are an English-speaking migrant here in France going through your own cancer experience, there is a very fine organization out there called Cancer Support France.  They have a hot-line, support groups and many other services.  They can help you navigate the French healthcare system or just give you someone to talk to when are just too damn tired or sick to chat in your second language.  They have people trained in "active listening" and they are really good at it.  Give them a call.
